Question # 1 – What do you know about blogging?
If I answer this question honestly I would have to say not
much. I know it’s started out as some form of personal social entertainment or
this is what I think and now it’s an addictive habit for many people. Blogs are frequently updated online personal
journals or diaries. It is a place to express yourself to the world without
fear or reservation because people can’t see the face behind the computer words.
It’s a place to share one’s thoughts and your passions I have been told and can
also be very relaxing. I would think that blogging can become anything you want
it to be because you determine what is written and posted.
Question # 2 – Why might blogging be important?
Human nature is curious and likes to be entertained.
Blogging provides entertainment and people can live vicariously through the
life of others. It’s a way to stay in touch when separated and keep family
informed of what is happening in the lives of each other.
For my family, blogging became important when my niece and
her husband accepted a teaching position in Korea. Blogging helped the family
stay in touch. We were provided with details of their many travels along with
boring details like what they had for lunch or movies they had just seen. So
blogging might be important for people to stay connected and in touch
The internet has open doors that allow bloggers to create a
virtual reality that others can follow. The impersonal almost becomes personal
as the writer can carefully choose words that allow his/her audience to embrace
their emotions as they share details about their life and interests. Many
people would be scared to stand up in a crowded room and speak so blogging
provides the forum for the writer to share his/her point of view and give a
voice to his/her personal opinion. They may dedicate their blog to something
they are passionate about and can speak to it without intimidation or sometimes
reservation.
Finally blogging is important because it provides a forum to
get information out quickly and efficiently if needed with little or no
trouble.
Question # 3 – How can blogging be used to enhance my
current leadership position?
As an assistant principal I can use blogging to help parents
keep up to date with the changes in education. Common Core is just hot off the
press and I can provide details on the changes and ships in education as a
result of the new state standards.
Blogging can be used to get community information out to
parents; it can be used to solicit responses to decisions we may be considering
that may affect parents. It can provide up to date news on what is going on on
campus while parents are at work. I think it can be a great way of
communication between home and school.
It can also be forum where parents and students alike can
share concerns with staff. Currently at my school we have an anti-bullying
campaign blogging could be a great way to share snippets of a safe environment
and what responsible students should do to minimize the problem.

I think the idea of using blogging like a message board is such a wonderful idea. It would make my life better if my kids campus newsletter was a blog instead of email because I could always look at back issues.
A very thorough explanation about why blogging is important to apply in various aspects of education.
As you pointed out, blogging can be a very powerful tool for marketing, messaging, and for advancing learning. As part of the literature review assignment for this class, I found the blogs to be helpful in synthesizing some of the more technical aspects of data analysis and big data.
